"Next Steps in Glassblowing"
May 22 - May 26, 2023 (5-day workshop)
A strong foundation is key to developing thoughtful and technically refined pieces in the hot shop. This next steps class will emphasize the importance of building upon positive habits and solid hand skills. Students will focus on gathering, wall thickness, speed, ergonomics, and heat in order to create well designed and elegant vessels.
This course will emphasize individual attention and instruction time will be divided between demonstrations and supervised work time. This class is ideal for people who have minimal to basic glassblowing skills, but who are not absolute beginners. Students should have taken at least one beginning glassblowing class/workshop prior to this class.
This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Monday through Friday, with additional studio time Monday through Thursday, from 5pm to 9pm. Materials for participating in the course are included. If you have specific colors you are interested in working with please bring them with you.
